This new feature is protected by end-to-end encryption and allows the user to choose who and how long to share. In addition, it is possible to stop sharing the location at any time.
This new function is included within the 'Location' option of the 'Attach' menu of the individual or group chats. So far, the user could only send a static location, but the new WhatsApp feature will appear with a 'Real-time Location' option. Pressing this button will have to select the time to be shared and select 'Send'.
Each selected contact can view the real-time location sent on a map. In addition, if more than one person has shared this information, all locations in real time on the same map can be viewed.
WhatsApp has confirmed that this new functionality will be available in its 'app' for both Android and iOS "in the coming weeks".
