Samsung's First All-in-One Metal Phone

Samsung's first all-in-one metal phone, 'Galaxy A5'

Samsung Electronics' new smartphone 'Galaxy A5' image was released. Sam Mobile Tech News, the source of Samsung Electronics, unveiled a real working photo of the model called 'A500'.

The Galaxy A5 is a similar product to the recently launched 'Galaxy Alpha'. According to Sam Mobile, the Galaxy A5 uses a 5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 × 720 and a 16GB storage capacity on the Snapdragon 400 processor. The hardware is focused on the design side rather than the performance, so it seems to be settling down to the mid-level.

It is noteworthy that this product is different from Samsung's pursuit. It's not just about performance. It is not surprising that Samsung Electronics used a 5-inch display or a Snapdragon 400 processor because of its flagship display and processor. However, there are reasons to write these parts.

Galaxy A5 is a whole metal. In the meantime, Samsung has stuck with plastic cases. Because design is relatively free and mass production is easy, it is possible to produce various products quickly. On the other hand, metals are relatively difficult to process. It is not easy to remove the battery. High-performance hardware, and a battery that can be replaced at any time, was Samsung's biggest weapon to fight against Apple. Samsung has begun to review this metal design in recent years, and real products are coming out. In addition, in order to improve the design of the metal case, a battery-integrated product is inevitable.

Galaxy Alpha was Samsung's first smartphone that used metal. It can be considered as an attempt when metal is used on a product. Samsung has also put a metal case on the Galaxy Note 4, which was announced after the Galaxy Alpha. The Galaxy A5 seems to be another development process for this part.

The Galaxy A5 is Samsung's first all-in-one smartphone. Failure to replace the battery in the smartphone has been a disadvantage. The initial Android had only to replace the battery because of the high power consumption, and now battery capacity has increased and processor efficiency has increased. If the technical conditions for making an integral product are satisfied, it is more advantageous to design the case as a whole and cover the battery.

The start of the Galaxy A5 begins with an attempt at this all-in-one. The first metal smartphone, the Galaxy Alpha, is made of metal, making it thinner and more stylish, with battery problems and chip heat coming through the product. The Galaxy A5 seems to be trying to catch the heat problem by lowering the processor's operating speed. Power consumption is also relatively low. However, the resolution has been lowered so as not to lose performance. The display itself is also the most influential factor in power consumption. Of course, not to cause interference with the Galaxy S5 would have had some effect on performance, but design and battery performance centered around the design is a little more.

Because of its integrated design, the Galaxy A5 uses a pin inserted in the side to insert a USIM. What stands out is that the Micro SD card slot is made in the same way. I did not give up the scalability of the storage space.

Although Samsung is relatively late, the way of separating the battery and the integral type are more than characteristics of each other. Metal and plastic, both integrated and separated, are both different and different. As Apple pointed out that Samsung will follow Samsung's trend by enlarging its screen, a metal design using Samsung's all-in-one battery can be similarly pointed out, but it is only reviewing the direction that smartphone design can change to the limit. The Galaxy A5 also uses metal, but Sam Mobile introduces a differentiation by adopting a new material rather than a simple material.

However, I do not know how the market situation or the flow of design will change, but pointing out that they are ridiculous or disadvantageous because of different characteristics of competitors' products may come back to the headwind.
